Summer is HERE! get the BBQ out of the Shed!

August 5th, 2007

Well at last it seems summer really is here, and this weekend would of been a fantastic time for a bbq! apart from my two eldest children are away all weekend with my parents leaving only myself and my wife with the baby and due to the baby only on breast milk and my wife having the appetite of a small mouse I couldn’t bring myself to dirty the bbq.

If I had, we could have had a nice low calorie bbq meal such as this:

  • 2 Low Calorie Quorn or Linda McCartney Sausages
  • 1 100% Pure Beed Burger (Ross or similar)
  • 2 Wholemeal Bread Buns (Or) 1 Large Discovery Soft Flour Tortilla
  • Unlimited amounts of fresh salad
  • 50g of Low Calorie Coleslaw
  • 1 Glass of Wine or Beer

All for around 450 Calories!!

Well here is hoping next weekend it stays dry :(

Calorie Burner!

July 29th, 2007

How many of you guys use the gym? I worked out yesterday and burned a total of 700 Calories on the Cardio Vascular machines, I was quite impressed with myself as I normally only hit around 500 calories.

If you train how many calories do you burn in a session?

Based on 1lb of Fat being 3,500 calories it would take 7 sessions of 500 calories to burn a 1lb or 5 sessions of 700 calories, so I will try for 700 on my next work out.

Blaming the kids!!

July 23rd, 2007

Its only the first day of the Summer holidays and already I have had a couple of my female clients blaming their children for their own weight increase!

Come one, I know its harder when the kids are off but it just takes a little more effort and organisation to keep on your diet when the kids are off school.

Here is the best way to tackle the problem through the holidays:

  • Plan your day the night before.
  • Prepare salad/veg etc the night before to give yourself more time.
  • Keep an eye on your groceries, so you do not run out of essentials.
  • Plan to do something that involves you getting active with your kids every day of the holidays
  • Get your kids to help you with your plan whilst looking at their own eating patterns

Then watch as the weight falls off week after week!

Key word on this is MOTIVATION!!

Eating to Excess!

July 22nd, 2007

So many people eat way beyond their hunger levels, including myself. Its very difficult to just eat enough.

I find when I am busy especially I tend to miss meals and as a result when its time to eat I could eat for England! I have decided to try one of dplan’s diet plates and see how they help me control my portion sizes. I realise I should know better than to miss meals and put myself into this position in the first place, but it also makes me appreciate how hard it is for my clients.

You need to remember although when you are hungry you want to eat a lot more than you require here is what you should do:

  • Eat only a sensible sized portion for your meal
  • Sip water throughout your meal
  • Take your time
  • Always eat sitting at your dinning table or desk etc if at work
  • Do not shop when you are hungry

After you have finished your meal you may still be a little hungry but within 5 minutes of finishing your meal you will no longer be hungry so try to keep yourself away from any further snacking.

I will keep you updated with my findings of the diet plate it may be the winning combination to your weight loss plan!

Bread = Bloat?

July 17th, 2007

Bread Bloating You Out? I am not sure how others get on with bread but it  causes me to feel bloated for the full day, had a  sandwich at 1pm today (large granary bun) and its  now nearly 8pm and i still feel bloated!!

Wheat to me just seems to cause problems, I find im  much better with jacket potatoes and boiled rice for my  carbohydrates rather than bread or pasta

Here comes the summer……

July 17th, 2007

Will we ever see the sun again? with the UK weather probably the worst its ever been throughout June/July I wonder if summer will ever arrive! will it drive everyone to depression and cause you to over eat? will you take comfort in food on these rainy dowdy days in July?

I just hope the weather will break enough for my kids to be able to play out in the 6 weeks! otherwise it will probably drive my wife crazy! :)

Are you killing your own metabolism?

July 16th, 2007

Many people spend their entire life following diets and never actually losing weight! why would you get fatter following a diet? Well many people do due to one major factor!!

Many people starve themselves to lose weight, after the first week they have lost 5lb’s second week they have lost 8lb and by the third week they have lost 14lb!!

Good going you would think yes?….

Actually no, losing that amount of weight through not eating enough will only result in water loss.

Water loss = Muscle loss

As muscle is made up of at least 60% water, and the less muscle you have the less calories your body will burn as muscle volume is the key to your bodies metabolism, so as you can see keeping hold of as much muscle as possible is of utmost importance!

What can you do to lose that excess weight?

  • Well you can eat a balanced healthy diet
  • Drink 2 litres of water per day
  • Do 40 minutes exercise every day
  • Take an effective slimming pill such as Slim Bomb to burn excess fat away and control your appetite.

If you have any questions please feel free to ask
